Lansmont Custom Engineered Solutions

Purpose-built impact and vibration systems: from a 15 m/s, 500 g horizontal impact tester to a 25,000 g vertical shock machine.

Made by Lansmont Corporation. Supplied and supported in China by WTC (West Technology Corporation). · Manufacturer page ↗

Overview

Beyond its standard catalogue, Lansmont designs and manufactures custom impact, vibration and material-handling test systems for applications no off-the-shelf machine covers. Each project starts from the customer's specific requirement and ends in a delivered, commissioned system. Several representative projects show the range.

On the shock side, the 91HITS horizontal impact system uses a two-sled design, an impact sled pneumatically fired into a test sled, to simulate the horizontal energy of an IED blast in the lab, reaching impact velocity changes up to 34 mph (15 m/s) and accelerations upwards of 500 g. The Vertical Impact Test System (VITS) generates multiple programmable shocks to replicate a blast under a ground vehicle. The HSXX20 vertical shock system adds an active seismic base to reach velocity changes up to 180 ft/sec (54.9 m/s) and accelerations up to 25,000 g. The Mortar Plate Test System fires steel bullets to load a baseplate more than ten times a minute, and the 122-213K shock system provides a 122 x 213 cm, 8,000 lb test bed large enough to shock an entire supercomputer.

On the vibration side, Lansmont built a Model 56000 system with twin 48 x 48 in. tables controlled in unison to give a 48 x 96 in. surface rated to 8,000 lbs (3,628 kg) and 500 Hz, and a Model 28000 machine with a 160 x 102 in. table accurate to 300 Hz for large HVAC units. Projects like these span defence, aerospace and large-electronics programmes.
