Overview

The Lansmont TruMotion is an acceleration sled load stability tester. Instead of the millisecond, high-g pulses produced by a shock machine, it reproduces the long-duration, low-frequency inertia a unit load meets when a vehicle accelerates, corners or brakes. Those inputs last hundreds of milliseconds yet peak at only a fraction of a g, and they are a leading cause of pallet loads sliding, leaning or toppling.

The carriage is driven by a servo system along a user-defined acceleration-versus-time profile. It measures 150 x 150 cm and carries up to 1,500 kg; maximum acceleration is 0.85-1.6 g and the maximum displacement is 3.3 m. During a run the system quantifies peak displacement; after it, the residual permanent displacement, so engineers can judge whether stretch film, strapping, anti-slip material and pallet connections are sufficient.

The machine was developed to meet EUMOS 40509 test requirements and FMCSA cargo securement rules, and it accepts user-defined acceleration-versus-time profiles so a real braking or cornering event can be replayed. Typical work covers beverage, building-materials, appliance and cold-chain pallets as well as new pallet and packaging designs, and measured field data from a SAVER recorder can be brought back to keep the test representative.
