Overview

The Lansmont IT 152-4K is an inclined impact tester that reproduces the handling hazards products and packages meet during warehouse transfer, loading and shipping. A 60 in. (152 cm) square carriage runs down an inclined track and strikes a rigid backstop at a controlled velocity, recreating horizontal impacts in the laboratory.

Its distinguishing feature is a unique articulating carriage. While loading, the carriage top stays level so a forklift can place even heavy test items safely and easily; once loaded, a pneumatic articulation system quickly lowers the carriage into its inclined test position. The carriage dimensions are 60 in. (152 cm) square, the impact surface (backstop) is 84 in. wide by 76 in. high (213 cm x 193 cm), and the system handles payloads up to 4000 lbs. (1814 kg). The standard unit generates a maximum impact velocity of 7.3 ft./sec. (2.2 m/sec.).

Operators position the carriage with a handheld controller while standing clear of the machine, and integrated safety interlocks disable the system if a hazardous condition is triggered. An optional velocity meter records impact velocity for each run, and the tester can be paired with Lansmont Test Partner data acquisition to capture and analyse the impact pulse.

The IT 152-4K suits mid-size, mid-weight packaged goods, appliances, electro-mechanical products and palletised loads, providing repeatable inclined impact data for validating protective packaging design.
