Overview

The Lansmont IT 213-6K is an inclined impact tester built for large, heavy packaged loads, reproducing the handling hazards encountered during warehousing, loading and shipping. An 84 in. (213 cm) square carriage runs down an inclined track and strikes a rigid backstop at a controlled velocity, delivering repeatable horizontal impacts in the laboratory.

Like the smaller IT 152-4K, it uses a unique articulating carriage. The carriage top stays level during loading so a forklift can place bulky, heavy test items with minimal risk, then a pneumatic articulation system quickly and reliably lowers the carriage into its inclined test position. The carriage measures 84 in. x 84 in. (213 cm x 213 cm) and the impact surface (backstop) is 96 in. square (244 cm x 244 cm), handling payloads up to 6000 lbs. (2721 kg). The standard unit reaches a maximum impact velocity of 7.3 ft./sec. (2.2 m/sec.).

A handheld controller lets the operator position the carriage while standing safely away from the machine, and built-in safety interlocks disable the system when a hazardous condition is triggered. An optional velocity meter measures impact velocity for each run, and the tester integrates with Lansmont Test Partner data acquisition for impact pulse capture and analysis.

The IT 213-6K is suited to large appliances, heavy electro-mechanical equipment and large palletised loads, providing repeatable inclined impact data to validate protective packaging and transport safety.
