The HSX15/HSX30 belongs to Lansmont's Extreme High Speed shock series, distinguished from conventional free-fall machines by a table acceleration boost system. The whole machine is built around a super heavy-duty load frame that both supports the structure and safely contains the boost mechanism. Its suspended seismic reaction mass with an integrated impact surface is isolated from the floor to keep shock energy out of the building.
On performance, the series raises velocity change from the 120 ft/sec of the HS15/50 to 150 ft/sec (45.8 m/sec), with peak acceleration up to 10,000 g and pulse durations as short as 0.2 ms. Payload capacity stays at 250 lbs (113 kg), with specimen dimensions from 15 x 15 cm up to 30 x 30 cm and table sizes from 15 x 10 cm to 30 x 40.6 cm. A Lansmont TouchTest Shock control system is supplied as standard, and optional programmers add half-sine, trapezoidal, and terminal peak sawtooth waveforms.
The machine suits the most demanding shock levels: aerospace electronics, precision instruments, and high-reliability components that must prove structural integrity under extreme acceleration and large velocity change. As the small-specimen model in the HSX line, it pairs with the larger HSX30/122 so that differently sized specimens can be tested at a consistent extreme high-speed capability.
