Overview

EDM Modal is a complete modal testing and modal analysis software suite for Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA), developed on the basis of modern modal analysis theory and technique. It brings every function needed for a modal test into a single application so users can measure, identify, validate and animate results without switching between tools. The foundation of the suite is Geometry & ODS — the EDM Modal Geometry/ODS/Animation module, which is the primary EDM Modal software module and a required option for every EDM Modal system. It provides fast and efficient structural model generation together with full 3D visualization of test and analysis results. The vibration visualization approach overcomes the difficulty of producing 3D geometries for complicated models through a simple procedure, and animates the structure's deformation so the vibration experienced by the test article during a vibration test can be seen. On the testing side the suite spans Hammer Impact Testing, which provides the features needed for a single-operator experimental modal test with an intuitive step-by-step GUI; SIMO FRF Testing, using a single shaker and a large channel-count acquisition system for higher execution efficiency; MIMO FRF Testing, using multiple simultaneous shakers, where highly coupled modes can be identified with the poly-reference method; MIMO Sine Testing, using single or multiple modal shakers outputting a sine wave to acquire FRF signals; and Operational Modal Analysis (OMA), which uses ambient vibration data and identifies modes from the cross power spectrum. On the analysis side, Standard Modal Analysis offers a complete arsenal of tools from FRF data selection and parameter identification to results validation and mode shape animation, Advanced Modal Analysis extends the standard set, and Premium Modal Analysis includes all features of the Standard and Advanced packages. Correlation Analysis lets users correlate two modal models, experimental (EMA) and/or finite element (FEA) models, comparing experimental data with finite element results to validate the test.
