The Lansmont 122-15 is a servo-hydraulic compression tester built to evaluate the compressive strength of individual shipping containers as well as larger pallets, unit loads and bulk containers. Force is applied from the top down, which reproduces the loading a package actually sees when it is stacked in a warehouse more faithfully than a bottom-up platen.
The standard platen measures 122 x 122 cm (48 x 48 in) with a maximum opening of 198 cm (78 in), so tall pallet loads can be accommodated. Maximum force is 66.7 kN (15,000 lbs). Oversized platens and larger openings are available for bigger specimens. A low-profile baseplate makes loading and unloading large items easier and safer, and the machine can be installed on any reinforced concrete floor, preferably at ground level.
Every system ships with the TouchTest Compression (TTC) controller, which handles Constant Deflection Rate, Ramp to Load and Release, Stacking Simulation and Deflection Profile modes, and allows user-defined load and deflection profiles that better mimic real stacking conditions. Options include a fixed or floating platen, a package test stand for smaller individual packages, a low-range load platform with a higher-resolution load cell, and an integrated temperature and humidity sensor that documents atmospheric conditions during the test. It is aimed at transport packaging design validation and QC for corrugated boxes, palletized loads and large bulk containers.
