Overview

The PDT 80 is the most popular model in Lansmont's precision drop tester line. It handles flat, edge and corner drop tests across a wide range of requirements, from individual components to complete products and packages, with a maximum payload of 177 lbs (80 kg) and drop heights from 1 in (2.5 cm) up to 192 in (488 cm).

The test item is placed on the drop platform, also called the drop leaf. A high-velocity pneumatic cylinder, precision cam design and a unique braking system combine to deliver extremely accurate flat-drop testing that exceeds key industry standards such as ASTM D5276. An electric hoist sets the drop height precisely, while the plug-and-play handheld controller shows current and desired drop height on a digital display and simplifies setup, calibration and test start. A separate foot switch can also trigger the drop and reset the platform for greater safety and efficiency.

With the standard platen the machine accepts specimens up to 24 in (61 cm) deep front-to-back at 177 lbs (80 kg); the extended platen raises the depth to 36 in (91.5 cm) at 150 lbs (68 kg). Base plate choice sets the minimum drop height — a slotted baseplate and foundation kit allow drops as low as 1 in, the standard baseplate covers 12-192 in (30.5-488 cm), and the extended platen covers 18-192 in (45.7-488 cm). An oversized baseplate enlarges the impact surface from 36 in (91.4 cm) to 60 in (152.4 cm). Every unit is verified to a flatness accuracy within ±2 degrees. The PDT 80 meets ASTM D5276 and suits drop certification of consumer electronics, appliances, e-commerce and industrial packaging.
