Overview

The Crystal Instruments Route Based Vibration Data Collector pairs a CoCo handheld analyzer with Engineering Data Management (EDM) software. In Route and OnSite mode, EDM is used to configure the hardware and define routes before field work, then to download and archive data afterward. The typical workflow runs from building a database, to creating an acquisition route, uploading it to the CoCo, taking measurements point by point, and finally analyzing, reporting and archiving the results. EDM emphasizes graphical tools with a customizable layout, and drives both the Dynamic Signal Analyzer (DSA) mode for mechanical structure analysis and the Route and OnSite mode for machine condition monitoring, vibration data collection and trending.

On instrument, operators navigate from the UI down to individual routes, view or hold live signals, review saved and adjacent measurement entries, and move between points and routes. Beyond basic waveform and spectrum capture, the system adds several condition-monitoring tools. Demodulated (envelope) spectra are available in both route and onsite modes with 24 demodulation bandwidths spanning 125 Hz–1.44 kHz up to 32 kHz–46.08 kHz. Run-up and coast-down triggering captures order-spectrum data as speed changes, shown in a 3D display. On-site rotor balancing corrects imbalance without dismantling the machine, using 1- or 2-plane balancing and, with the multi-channel option, two sensors in parallel for a faster, safer and more accurate procedure. Bump testing computes auto power spectra within a user-defined band, and Zoom Spectrum Analysis concentrates the available spectral lines on a band of interest to raise resolution, computing FRF, coherence, auto power and phase spectra. Measurements support 1 or 3 channels (tri-axis) with the tachometer enabled or disabled, and a tri-axis signal display shows all three time traces together.
