Overview

CI Testing Labs provides humidity and temperature testing services backed by humidity chambers, temperature chambers and vibration equipment that build customized solutions. Thermal and humidity testing includes humidity cycling, high-temperature testing and moisture-resistance testing. Each test is designed with unique thermal and humidity conditions to establish a product's temperature and moisture limits, and tests can run with static or cycling levels, verifying the causes of product defects and early-life failure.

The process is safely monitored online using EDM Cloud, with reports and status available at any time so users can track individual chambers. Engineers assist with testing, monitoring temperature and humidity change rates alongside changes to the test object and sharing results in comprehensive reports, and can help eliminate part failures in finished products. The procedure is: test objects are received at the lab; dedicated engineers support setup, which can follow military standards, ISO standards and others; objects are placed into a temperature, humidity or combined chamber; testing proceeds with recorded data and online monitoring; results and reports are provided.

Thermal services cover thermal cycling, humidity testing and thermal shock testing. Thermal cycling subjects specimens to various temperatures to calculate thermal limits and verify internal heating and cooling, often combined with humidity and sometimes vibration, particularly for transportation and defense products. Repeated expansion and contraction causes component fatigue, exposing design inconsistencies and estimating life expectancy. Thermal shock uses a two-zone chamber with pre-heated and pre-cooled compartments and a mechanism transferring specimens between them; no wait time is needed, and the stronger expansions and contractions cause fatigue faster.

Humidity testing proves the susceptibility of a unit under test to temperature and relative humidity fluctuations near its expected end-user applications, and can serve as a precursor or post-test qualification for other reliability tests. MIL-STD-202 provides an icing procedure combining high RH, low RH and freezing that accelerates delamination within substrates, with failure modes such as ingress, oxidation, shorts and de-lamination.
