Overview

The QR 3000 is a quick release drop tester designed for larger and bulkier test items than the PDT models. It accommodates loads from 25 to 3000 lbs (11 to 1361 kg), and the drop height is limited only by the lifting device the customer uses, such as a forklift or winch.

The system consists of a quick release mechanism, a lifting ring and a foot switch. Straps sling the test item to the lifting ring, which is placed in the QR 3000. The assembly and item are then raised to a predetermined height by a forklift, winch or other lifting device (not included). Pressing the foot switch activates the QR 3000, opening the jaws and releasing the test item for a free-fall drop test.

The quick release mechanism is engineered for maximum reliability and safety. It uses a high-strength aluminum construction for durability, a heavy-duty industrial solenoid chosen for quiet operation and long life, hardened steel cam rollers that ensure a vertical drop, and self-lubricating low-friction bearings in the latch jaws and linkage. A positive lock design will not release the load in the event of power loss, and the foot switch is covered by a metal guard to prevent accidental activation. The foot switch detaches for convenient setup and storage, and a forged steel eyebolt provides a solid lifting point.

The QR 3000 suits drop validation of large palletized, unitized or otherwise heavy and bulky goods — for example oversized equipment or grouped full-unit packaging. Powered by 115 VAC at 60 Hz, with optional 230 VAC at 50/60 Hz, it is the highest-capacity model in Lansmont's drop tester range and relies on external lifting equipment.
