The Spider-81 is Crystal Instruments' fourth-generation vibration test controller system, developed for simulating vibration environments with a highly modular, distributed and scalable architecture. It supports large or small electrodynamic, hydraulic and electrically driven shakers with superb control accuracy. Its Spider technology is built into equipment from many shaker makers, including Sentek Dynamics (USA), Shinken and San-Esu (Japan), King Design (Taiwan), Bruel & Kjaer (Europe) and STI (China). The interface supports English, Japanese and Simplified or Traditional Chinese, switchable without reinstallation, and reports are created directly in MS-WORD from system settings or user templates.
Random control delivers precise real-time multi-channel control and analysis with a dynamic range as high as 90 dB; up to 512 channels can be connected and enabled for limit monitoring and data acquisition, with full-sample-rate recording on all input channels regardless of count. A unique hardware design gives a loop time under 15 ms; Black Box mode runs without a PC; non-linear control improves hydraulic shaker accuracy; and Kurtosis control enables Gaussian and non-Gaussian operation. Swept Sine control likewise supports up to 512 channels with a loop time under 10 ms.
Classical Shock control covers half-sine, haversine, terminal-peak and initial-peak sawtooth, triangle, rectangle and trapezoid pulses, with a Transient Control option for imported waveforms. Time Waveform Replication runs an unlimited number of profiles in schedule and enables up to 8 channels for limit monitoring and recording. Sine-on-Random offers free-sweeping (1–12 tones) and harmonic (1–20 tones) modes; Random-on-Random provides up to 12 free sweeping bands; Dual Drives controls two shakers in push-pull or parallel; and Displacement Optimization reduces random-test displacement by 10% to 20% while meeting the target PSD.
