Overview

EDM Post Analyzer (PA) is the post-processing component of the Crystal Instruments EDM (Engineering Data Management) suite, used for offline processing of previously recorded time stream data. Processing includes data conditioning, Fourier transform operations and specialized analyses such as order tracking and octave analysis. To offer both real-time analysis and post-processing, CI split its EDM support applications into three separate modules - Post Analyzer, Waveform Editor and File Converter - of which PA packs many powerful post-processing tools with batch-processing capability.

PA is an independent Windows application that analyzes data files on a computer using various algorithms. It comes in three editions: PA Viewer lets users view data and create reports; PA Basic adds FFT spectral analysis and 3D signal display; and PA Premium provides more advanced functions such as octave filters and order tracking.

Batch processing is a powerful tool that lets PA automatically process identically structured data in batches. As long as the user records time signals without changing settings - which is often the case - the recorded signals can be fed into the same project and processed individually without manual operation. In post-processing mode, EDM lets users browse data files and quickly import each channel's data content and attributes; time traces are played back, and cursors and zoom features reveal signal detail. Post-processing includes data conditioning, real-time filters, FFT spectral analysis, curve-fit, THD, RMS calculation, octave filters, order tracking, trending and alarms. Displays include time and spectra, waterfall, color-map spectrogram and Bode plots. After processing, data can be exported or used to generate reports.

Supported analysis types include FFT spectral analysis, octave and acoustic analysis, order tracking analysis, orbit plot, sine reduction, basic signal conditioning, sound power measurement, vibration intensity and fatigue damage spectrum.
