Vibration Utilities is a Crystal Instruments mobile app available for both iOS and Android, aimed at the everyday engineering calculations of vibration testing. It calculates shaker acceleration, performs unit conversions, and runs shaker sizing calculations for Random, Sine or Shock profiles.
After the user enters the test profile specifications, the app displays the required force, acceleration, velocity and displacement. These attributes then populate a shaker search query to find appropriately sized shakers capable of running the profile, turning the chain from test profile to kinematic requirements to shaker specification into a fast, error-resistant workflow.
The app bundles a set of calculators and editors: unit conversion (calculating shaker acceleration), Sine Motion, a Shock Calculator, a Random Calculator (PSD to RMS), a Log Gain Calculator, a Percentage Error Calculator, and Random, Sine and Shock profile editors. Together these cover the common steps from profile editing to kinematic conversion.
For test lab engineers selecting or verifying electrodynamic and hydraulic shakers, authoring random, sine or shock test profiles, or performing unit conversions, the app gives quick estimates of force and stroke requirements and reduces the risk of an under- or over-sized shaker that cannot run the intended test. It complements Crystal Instruments' vibration controllers and data acquisition devices.
