The Model 23C is a precision-engineered system from Lansmont for evaluating the impact performance of cushioning materials, primarily the foams used in protective packaging and product support. In operation, an electric hoist lifts a platen-carrying drop mass to a set height and releases it onto the specimen resting on the table, allowing the material's dynamic impact and cushioning characteristics to be measured. A forged aluminum table produces clean, stable shock pulses that support consistent results.
Operation uses a handheld pendant control for simplicity. The impact speed meter is compliant with ASTM standards and measures the actual impact velocity. By fitting optional platens or impact forms, the same machine can be configured for materials impact testing or artificial turf impact evaluation, giving versatile capability in a single system. A Test Partner data acquisition system can be added for accurate data capture and streamlined analysis.
Two platens are offered: a heavyweight 23 x 23 cm, 5.8 kg platen and a lightweight 21.6 x 21.6 cm, 0.9 kg platen. With the standard ballast kit, the heavyweight platen provides static loadings from 0.2 to 5.0 psi, while the lightweight platen covers the 0.03 to 0.15 psi range, with custom ballast kits available for other ranges. The system stands 244 cm tall within a 46 x 46 cm envelope, runs on single-phase 100-230 VAC, and needs 80-120 psi air.
